Audiobooks & Angela Savage on switching genres, PhDs & writing community.

Audiobooks. Do you listen? How? Where? And what are your faves? If you’re a published author, have you listened to your own? Kate and Katherine struggled to listen to theirs, but bring you a snippet of both The Helpline audiobook and Skylarking. Among other things, they discuss the delights of listening to (anything with) Stephen Fry on long car trips, and the joys of beautifully created audiobooks such as Kate’s fave The Chimes by Anna Smail.

They also FINALLY discuss Kate’s book news!

Then Kate speaks to Melbourne writer and Director of Writers Victoria, Angela Savage.

Angela Savage is an award winning Melbourne writer, who has lived and travelled extensively in Asia. Her debut novel, Behind the Night Bazaar, won the 2004 Victorian Premier’s Literary Award for an unpublished manuscript. All three of her Jayne Keeney PI novels were shortlisted for Ned Kelly Awards. The Dying Beach was also shortlisted for the 2014 Davitt Award.  She has taught writing throughout Australia and overseas. Angela holds a PhD in Creative Writing from Monash University, and is currently Director of Writers Victoria. Her novel, Mother of Pearl, is published by Transit Lounge.

Kate speaks to Angela about

Angela’s advice for writers: You’ve got to write.

Angela recommends Annah Faulkner’s The Beloved as her fave debut.
