YVWF: I Didn’t Plan it That Way with Jessie Tu

Jessie Tu is a Sydney-based journalist and writer. She was born in Taiwan and emigrated to Australia in 1992 with her family.

Tu trained as a classical violinist for more than 15 years. Failing to succeed as a professional musician, she taught music. She’s taught at refugee camps in the Middle East, volunteered with AUSAID in The Solomon Islands, travelled to complete residencies in the U.S, and now works as a journalist at Women’s Agenda. She’s won several poetry and writing awards, and her first book of poetry was released in 2018. Her best selling and critically acclaimed debut novel is A Lonely Girl is a Dangerous Thing, released in 2020.

Jessie Tu is appearing at Yarra Valley Writers Festival with Victoria Hannan talking sex, power and grief and with Sally Hepworth and Declan Fry discussing review culture.
