Conversations with Friends #8: Sally Piper and Shady Cosgrove

This episode of Conversations with Friends with with authors Sally Piper and Shady Cosgrove.

Sally Piper (above) is the author of The Geography of Friendship (UQP, 2018/Legend Press, 2019), shortlisted for the 2019 Australian Book Industry Awards – Small Publishers’ Adult Book of the Year, and Grace’s Table (UQP, 2014/Legend Press, 2019), shortlisted for the 2011 Queensland Literary Awards – Emerging Queensland Author category. She holds a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from Queensland University of Technology. Her short fiction and non-fiction has appeared in various publications in Australia and the UK to include Griffith Review, The Saturday Paper, the Sydney Morning Herald and the inaugural One Book Many Brisbanes anthology, amongst others. Sally is an active member of the Queensland writing community, where she presents workshops and seminars, leads in-conversations and mentors other writers. Shady's+head+

Shady Cosgrove is the author of What the Ground Can’t Hold (Picador, 2013) and She Played Elvis (Allen and Unwin, 2009), which was shortlisted for the Australian Vogel Award. She received the 2020 Eleanor Dark Flagship Fellowship at Varuna and her short works have appeared in Best Australian Stories, Overland, Antipodes, Southerly, the Sydney Morning Herald, the Melbourne Age and various Spineless Wonders publications. She is an Associate Professor in creative writing at the University of Wollongong, Australia, with teaching interests in prose and editing. Links to her work can be found at shadycosgrove.com
